First Peoples Bank was organized in 1974 and opened for business January 2, 1975, as First Peoples Bank of Jefferson County, with a total of six employees. The bank operated in a portable building until it moved into its present Jefferson City office in May 1976. First Peoples Bank is the oldest bank in Jefferson County. In early 1994, First Peoples Bank of Jefferson County officially changed its name to First Peoples Bank of Tennessee.

First Peoples Bank was organized to meet the banking needs of the “people” as our name implies. First Peoples Bank has assets of $112,000.000 and 70 employees with seven locations in Jefferson, Hamblen and Knox Counties. This is evidence that First Peoples Bank strives to meet the banking needs of these communities.
